Don was admitted to practice in Massachusetts in 1995. Since joining this firm in 1996, Don has maintained a general civil litigation and appellate practice representing both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. Presently, a significant area of his practice involves representing plaintiffs in professional malpractice, employment discrimination and personal injury actions. Don also represents clients before state administrative agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, Division of Administrative Law Appeals and the Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission. Additionally, Don represents clients before local municipal boards, including Boards of Selectmen and Zoning Boards of Appeal. Recently, Don secured a final judgment exceeding $1,000,000 in an employment-retaliation claim in Suffolk County Superior Court. He has also obtained numerous judgments and settlements exceeding $250,000 on behalf of his clients.
Prior to joining Christopher, Hays, Wojcik & Mavricos, Don served on the staff of the Joint Committee on Public Safety in the Massachusetts Legislature for five years, including two years as Research Director for the Committee. He received a J.D. from New England School of Law, and a B.A. degree in English from Ithaca College. Don is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Worcester County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Employment Lawyers Association. Don is also active in his local community serving as a member of the Hopkinton Housing Committee and as a youth sports coach.
Represented terminated employee in retaliation claim against a state agency resulting in a final judgment in excess of $1,000,000.
Represented mentally disabled landowner who was swindled out of real estate that was in his family's name for generations. A jury returned a verdict against one defendant in an amount exceeding $1,000,000. Also secured a settlement in excess of $300,000 against attorney arising from the sale of this property.
Represented business owner in accounting malpractice action against former accountant and bookkeeper, resulting in a settlement in excess of $300,000.
Represented resident of nursing home in medical malpractice action against nursing home and health care providers alleging wrongful death.
Represented owners of liquor license before Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission in appeal of license suspension and successfully obtained a significantly reduced license suspension on behalf of client.
Secured noteworthy settlement on behalf of patient in a wrong-site surgery claim against former surgeon.
Represented plaintiff in dental malpractice action against former dentist that resulted in considerable settlement for the plaintiff.
Represented patients injured when the surgical teams failed to remove medical instruments after surgery was complete.
Represented Estate of decedent against primary care physician in medical malpractice claim alleging failure to timely diagnose cancer, which resulted in significant settlement for the Estate.
Represented numerous plaintiffs and claimants in cases arising out of motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls.
Represented former employee of multi-million dollar insurance company in wrongful termination lawsuit resulting in large settlement.
Represented Manager of large utility company who was the target of sexual orientation harassment and discrimination by members of a union during a labor dispute. Successfully pursued a discrimination claim against the union and its members before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and in federal court, which ultimately resulted in a significant settlement for the plaintiff.
Represented numerous employees alleging gender, maternity, age discrimination and sexual harassment claims before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Successfully defended companies and small businesses against discrimination claims brought by former employees before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.
Prevailed on Summary Judgment on behalf of a small business owner in a zoning dispute involving a neighbor and a municipality.
Successfully convinced Zoning Board of Appeals to reverse Building Inspector’s decision to deny a small business owner a permit to operate his business as an accessory use in a residential district.
Successfully represented a former police officer against a municipality with respect to returning to the police force after being disabled for ten years.
Prevailed on Summary Judgment defending a defendant homeowner against a dog-bite claim that resulted in serious injury to the plaintiff.
Defended small construction company in lawsuit brought by a subcontractor who was seriously injured as a result of an on-the-job accident. Case settled for minimal amount despite the seriousness of the plaintiff’s injuries.

Persuaded Massachusetts Appeals Court to affirm the trial court’s granting of summary judgment ordering the reinstatement of a former municipal police officer.
